About us...

The Ensamble Cine Mudo plays live music for film screenings; mainly early silent films.

It was founded in 1998 by pianist José Serralde; José Lugo became lead percussionist for the group around that time.

Their musical works pursue a dialogue between the aesthetics of a film, and its possible historical and musical contexts.

According to the needs of each film, Serralde invites other musicians to perform determined instruments. As soloists and in different configurations, the ensemble has performed in venues in Mexico and abroad.
